This is a sculpture made by disassembling bicycle sprockets. The sprockets originally consist of six discs in graduating sizes. They are disassembled and cut in half. By matching up the sizes on a number of sprockets, these pieces are then welded together to make into a round orb.

Jean E. Hill, Welded Metal Sculptor. BA (Hons) in Art History, City and Guilds in Sculpture. Her sculptures are often made from found materials and she frequently uses materials from broken bicycles. She won the British Society of Wildlife Artists 'Artist of the Year' with her sculpture made of bicycle chains which was exhibited at the Mall Gallery. She has done other sculptures principally for gardens for private commissions. This year she exhibited a sculpture at the Morley Gallery for the Made at Morley exhibition and has a commission for a window display for the London Cycle Shop in Hackney.
